Framed Kākāriki Print

from $250.00

Kākāriki are a beautiful example of how manu in Aotearoa can be vibrant and flashy, while also being able to blend in to their surroundings. With a green so vivid their name is the most commonly used māori translation for the colour, and a striking flash of bright red to top it off, to me kākāriki are a prime example of the sensible beauty of our wildlife. Not as gaudy as some of their overseas cousins, but plenty pretty.

This image was captured at Waiorua, on Kapiti Island, where kākāriki are commonly seen fluttering in pairs through the valley. This one was working it’s way through a tree lucerne, cracking open seed pods and scoffing choice morsels, letting glossy black seeds fall.

Your image will be printed on gallery-quality Enhanced Matte paper using 12 colour archival pigment inks on the latest Epson printers, framed in a sustainably sourced, solid wood frame handmade in New Zealand.
