Framed Kōkako Print
Kōkako are one of Aotearoa’s most iconic taonga, known for their haunting song, striking appearance, and elusive nature. Once widespread, their numbers declined dramatically due to habitat loss and predation. Kōkako now thrive on Kapiti with at least 100 pairs established across the motu, after a series of translocations from the few remaining mainland stronghold populations.
This image was captured at Rangatira Point, on the lowland Rangatira loop track. Finding an elevated position on the track allowed me to be near eye level with this Kōkako who sat downhill of me. I love the chiefly, dignified, pose.
Your image will be printed on gallery-quality Enhanced Matte paper using 12 colour archival pigment inks on the latest Epson printers, framed in a sustainably sourced, solid wood frame handmade in New Zealand.
